Dyslexia

St. Crispin's School has recently been awarded CReSTeD status, making it the only school in Leicestershire to have been officially approved and registered to the agreed criteria set up by the charitable institution that provides guidance to parents who are seeking a school for their dyslexic child. That criteria is for Specialist Classes for English and Mathematics where appropriate.

Advantages for dyslexic pupils at St. Crispin's School;

  • School under management of RSA Dip SpLD Headteacher who co-ordinates the work of the other specialist/non specialist teachers.

  • Specialist classes in English and Maths are held where appropriate.

  • Differentiated programme of study where necessary but pupils encouraged to sit National Curriculum examinations whenever possible.

  • Head continually monitors children's progress in academic and social skills.

  • ICT and Library facilities are to approved CReSTeD status.

  • Touch typing is encouraged and pupils are entered for CLAIT before GCSE level.

  • IEP's for all pupils, in all subjects throughout the school.

  • Extra time given in school examinations from Year 3 where applicable.

  • Reports for QCA for special arrangements at KS2 & KS3 prepared in-house as part of the fees.
